Dear Reader,
You will fight more internal battles than you will with others. And, it takes you a while to realize you need to stay grounded to focus on your own blessings.
‘‘You’re not doing enough. Look at them… living the dream.’’ The silent whispers in your head.
More times than I’d like to admit, I’ve also pushed myself to try certain things out of comparison yet deep down, it didn’t bring the joy or fulfillment I expected. That’s when I realized, what they’re doing is amazing, but it’s not what I’ve been called to do right now. And when I leaned into that, I felt peace.
An example for me is content creation. I genuinely love creating content, capturing moments, and sharing life experiences that are relatable. And as much as I’d love to grow a YouTube Channel or Tiktok presence, I also dread the loss of anonymity…. and that has kept me grounded in many ways. Most content creators want to be famous, but you’d be surprised that I want to live a normal comfortable life. I want to be able to walk the streets anytime, go to church, the market, and be around my friends and family freely.
And that is why I’ve always loved writing. Words speak for themselves. Writers don’t always need to show their face, voice, or body to express creativity. Writing gives me a voice without giving me away. It’s a form of honesty that still allows for my privacy. I don’t even know what some of my favorite writers look like or their voice, but their books have inspired and influenced me.
So I pray differently now
I pray to God to guide me in my purpose and give me the fulfillment and alignment in his perfect time.
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalms 139:13-14 NIV
Love always,
